Two learners from Compass Community School Aylward Park have had their work selected for publication in the latest Young Writers UK anthology, Grim Tales: Deepest Darkness. The national competition invites young people aged 11ā18 to create original short stories that put a dark, modern twist on classic tales.
The entries from Aylward ParkāScary Poppins by CM and Pin Occhio by ARāimpressed judges with their creativity and bold reimagining of well-known characters. As a result, both stories will be published in an upcoming collection that showcases young literary talent from across the country.
This latest success brings the schoolās total number of published authors to fourāan impressive feat for a small school community. The two newest additions follow in the footsteps of earlier Aylward Park learners whose stories also earned a place in previous Young Writers publications.
