Students at Wheatley Park took the opportunity to learn about the Normans during their recent visit to Caldicot Castle. 🏰
During their day out, students were given a tour of the castle and its grounds and were encouraged to think about how Norman castles were built and defended. Caldicot Castle was originally built as a stronghold during the Middle Ages but was restored as a family home during the Victorian period.
Having previously studied Norman castles in their history lessons, it was a very useful experience for the students to visit a real one. The students greatly enjoyed the trip and showed a keen interest in the castle. This was particularly true of their visit to the dungeon – which proved to be the highlight of the day for many.
