Wheatley Park students joined Keep Swindon Tidy volunteers to carry out litter picking in their local community.
KS2 and KS3 took part in the activity as a part of their Junior Duke Award. This award was inspired by the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme – as a way to encourage younger people to develop life skills.
To make things a bit more fun, the students turned the activity into a game – with points being allocated for finding certain items of litter, as well as quantity collected. The Keep Swindon Tidy volunteers were very impressed with Wheatley Park’s students and shared a positive post about them on their Facebook page.
The students enjoyed the activity, with some of them saying they would help out again. Behaviour remained exemplary throughout the activity, with students happy to have given back to their community. 🙏
