Tyrone Perry-Harry

“I am thrilled to have joined Athelstan Park School as Headteacher. What truly resonates with me about the school is the nurturing environment fostered by the dedicated staff for the benefit of our students. My journey in education has been diverse, encompassing various roles such as Head of Department, Head of Faculty, Head of Sixth Form, Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and Safeguarding Lead. Commencing my teaching career in 2006 as a classroom teacher, I progressed through the ranks to reach the Senior Leadership Team. Prior to entering the field of education, I briefly pursued a career in Health and Social Care. Subsequently, fueled by a passion for assisting others, I transitioned to teaching, specialising in Social Sciences, including Psychology, Sociology, and Health. I am a fully qualified teacher, having undergone teacher training at Oxford Brookes University. I also hold a Masters (MA) Degree in Education: LLL through the University of the West of England.

Before joining Athelstan Park School, I was Acting Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher in a much larger school ASC/SEN/SEMH of 60 students. Before that, I worked as a University Lecturer in Education, Inclusion, and SEND Education at the University of Gloucestershire. Currently, I am in the process of completing my Doctorate (PhD) with a focus on inclusion, social justice, and addressing inequalities in education. Furthering my commitment to educational leadership, I possess a National Professional Qualification (NPQ) in Educational Leadership, and I am actively working towards my National Professional Qualification (NPQ) for Headship. In addition to my academic pursuits, I am a trained classical musician, having earned certification through Trinity College London. I am proficient in playing the Flute, Oboe, Recorder, Piano, and enjoy singing. I play in a wind quintet in my spare time. I am looking forward to working with you all.”

Our Facilities

We love our school and we think you will too! Our school has:

  • Outside space
  • Modern, light and fresh learning spaces
  • Dedicated therapy room

We are committed to

developing young people who are responsible, caring and respectful of others, and who have a strong sense of fair-ness and what is ‘right’. We want them to treat others as they would like to be treated themselves and to understand and celebrate diversity and difference.
The school will help our children and young people to develop an inner discipline and will encourage pupils to not just ‘follow the crowd’ – they will make up their own minds and be ready to accept responsibility for what they do. They will grow through making choices and holding to the choices that they have made. They will want to be honest with themselves and with others.

Our Ethos

  • A passion to include everyone
  • A desire to treat everyone equally
  • An ability to respect difference and diversity
  • To celebrate all achievement
  • A commitment to healthy, open and respectful relationships
  • A deep sense of purpose that things can change and be transformed for the better
  • A sense of perseverance to keep going for as long as it take
  • An acceptance that failure is not the opposite of success, it is a part of success
