Students at CCS Hemsworth recently had the opportunity to learn about diabetes and its treatment.
During World Diabetes Day, which this year was on Thursday 14th November, students took part in the observance with a range of learning activities. Working from a programme of learning and task-based activities, Hemsworth’s students were also able to benefit from the first-hand experience of one of their own TAs, who himself has diabetes.
To further students’ understanding of a diabetic person’s daily routine, students where shown a range of syringes and then had a go at injecting an orange. By the end of the day, students and staff had a greater understanding of the condition and of the steps that people have to take to manage it.
