Learners from Seacole Parkâs Explore class recently travelled to Eden Camp in North Yorkshire as part of their topic on D-Day and World War Two. The immersive museumâset in the buildings of an original prisoner-of-war campâoffered a hands-on experience of life during one of the most significant periods in modern history.
The visit gave learners the chance to explore how people in Britain lived before and during the war. They walked through interactive huts, examined uniforms, and stood beside tanks and fighter planes. One learner said, âI really enjoyed going into the huts, seeing the machines and the tanks.â
The group explored everything from rationing and air raids to the complex reasons behind the conflict and the challenges faced by those who lived through it. This allowed them to better understand the global impact of war and how it affected everyday life.
Mr Hood, who led the trip, said it was a valuable extension of classroom learning. âOur learners were able to connect emotionally with what theyâve been studying. It brought history to life.â
It was a day of meaningful learning and memorable experiencesâone that helped Explore class deepen their understanding of the past.
