Construction Careers Event Inspires Seacole Students

In mid-October, Seacole Park students visited Foundations Live careers fair.

Foundations Live is a construction trade show and professional networking event for people of all ages. Seacole Park students, from years 7 to 9, were able to visit the different stalls and talk to expert representatives from each of the many trades involved in the construction industry.

One of the highlights of the interactive event was that children could try some hands-on skills for themselves, such as bricklaying and plastering. Some of the students even had a go on a digger.

The pupils had a great day and enjoyed learning about possible careers for the future. Among the many interesting things learned, one student was particularly fascinated by the fact that it takes around 6,000 bricks to build an average 3 bedroom house.

Having seen the success of the event, staff at Seacole Park plan to repeat the visit next year. Many thanks to Miss Schofield for organising the trip.
