CCS Coastal Park students recently had a great day out in London. The trip was organised as a Christmas celebration and allowed secondary students, from the Birches site, to see the capital.
The group travelled by train and then walked around London to the day’s main attraction: the Tower of London. Once there, the group enjoyed seeing the ravens and finding out about their history. (This included the myth that the Tower will fall, if the ravens ever leave. 🐦⬛)
The students then enjoyed seeing the famous Yeoman Warders (Beefeaters), who have traditionally guarded the Tower for centuries. The group then toured the Tower – and got to see the Crown Jewels up close!
Students and staff had lunch together, before revisiting the areas of the Tower that most fired their imaginations in the morning. After a final opportunity to see the sights of the city, they all got back on the train. Everyone had a very interesting and enjoyable day – with some students seeing London for the first time ever.
