CCS Coastal Park is celebrating once again after achieving the Gold standard in the prestigious School Games Mark ā marking the third consecutive year of this outstanding accomplishment. This recognition highlights the schoolās ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality PE and sport for all learners.
The School Games Mark is a government-led award scheme that has recognised schools across the UK since 2012. Schools are assessed on their dedication to physical education, inclusive competition, and community engagement. Coastal Parkās achievement places it just one year away from qualifying for the rare Platinum Award ā a milestone held by very few schools nationwide.
To gain this accolade, Coastal Park demonstrated real progress in key areas: maintaining high levels of learner participation in sport, offering meaningful and inclusive competition, supporting smooth transitions between key stages, and promoting youth leadership through sport. The award also celebrates the schoolās dedication to ensuring equal access to sport for all learners, regardless of gender or background.
Regional PE Lead (South), Wez Maher, praised the team effort behind this achievement, saying, āA huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to promoting sport and physical wellbeing across the school ā whether by supporting pupils at events, engaging in PE lessons, or running enrichment activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays.ā
Looking ahead, Coastal Park aims to build on this success. The school plans to strengthen its primary PE provision, offer more training for staff, and boost opportunities for female learners to participate in competitive sport.
This Gold award is a testament to the vibrant, inclusive, and ambitious sporting culture at Coastal Park. With Platinum now in sight, the school community is more determined than ever to ensure that sport remains at the heart of every learnerās journey.
