At CCS Athelstan Park, Blue Class have been making the most of the summer term by staying active and bringing history to life through some amazing trips and activities. To support their learning about the Industrial Revolution, learners visited the Milestones Museum in Basingstoke ā a fascinating reconstructed Victorian town. They explored traditional living rooms and schoolrooms from the past 150 years, played arcade games on a Victorian pier using old pennies, and even used WW2 rationing books to buy sweets!
More recently, they spent an exciting day at the Chalke Valley History Festival in Broad Chalke. Highlights included experiencing a WW1 trench, making Stone Age axe heads, grinding corn into flour, and playing Iron Age games like Nine Menās Morris. Learners also enjoyed a bird of prey show by the Beaulieu estate falconer and rounded off the day with a ride on the big wheel and an ice cream.
Thereās still more to come ā this week Blue Class will head out for an orienteering geocaching adventure in local woodlands and farmland, and next week theyāll visit Stourhead to see how the rich lived through history. With Sports Day, transition days and the Summer Fayre ahead, itās set to be a brilliant end to the term!
