CCS Hampshire Tull Park has recently reintroduced its Celebration Assemblies — and they are already making a big difference. Each week, staff and learners use a special compliments book to share praise for acts of kindness, hard work and positive behaviour. On Fridays, these compliments are read aloud in assembly, giving everyone a chance to be recognised.
In addition, staff vote for one learner from each year group to receive a special certificate for their outstanding efforts during the week. These awards come with extra points — 100 for each certificate and 10 for every compliment — which learners can collect and use towards rewards.
This simple yet meaningful initiative has inspired learners to show greater determination in their lessons and around school. Many who were previously less engaged are now stepping up, helping others, volunteering for extra jobs and taking pride in their actions. The assemblies have become a moment of genuine celebration, with learners beaming as they hear their names called and their achievements shared.
