Learners at CCS Mountfields Park marked International Literacy Day 2025 with energy, insight and creativity. The school held a thought-provoking assembly where learners explored how literacy shapes both their learning and their lives beyond the classroom.
The day provided a chance to reflect on how communication is evolving in our increasingly digital world. Discussions highlighted how literacy connects with every part of lifeāfrom personal expression to navigating the online world responsibly.
As part of the celebration, learners were invited to take part in a school-wide writing competition. The brief was to use the theme āDigital Worldā as inspiration. The results were anything but ordinary. Entries included powerful poems about cyberbullying, digital animations, and even cleverly written raps about their attachment to their phones.
These creative efforts sparked lively conversations across classrooms all week. Learners considered how digital technologies have changed the way we read, write and interactāas well as the potential dangers of the online world. The focus on literacy was not limited to writing, but extended to digital fluency and online safety, helping learners think critically about the world they are growing up in.
The week wrapped up with plenty of bonus points and prizes awarded, and a renewed appreciation for literacy in all its forms. Through creativity, discussion and reflection, Mountfields Park learners made International Literacy Day 2025 a memorable event.
