To mark this year’s Remembrance, staff and students at CCS Staffordshire visited the National Memorial Arboretum.
The Arboretum is sited near Lichfield in Staffordshire and attracts many visitors throughout the year – particularly during the time of Remembrance. It was set up to honour the sacrifice of service personnel and to serve as a focal point for acts of remembrance.
Once there, students discovered over 400 memorials – nestled amongst 25,000 trees. They enjoyed a tour on a land train and experienced guided memorial talks and exhibitions which celebrated lives well-lived, as well as lives lost.
In the lead up Remembrance Day, students also made poppies and studied war poetry in their English lessons.
The two minute silence was observed throughout the Compass Community.
