This term at CCS Hemsworth, staff and learners have been reflecting on AA’s remarkable journey as he prepares to move on to his next residential setting. A consistent source of positivity and support, AA has brought kindness, initiative and energy into all areas of school life.
In recent months, he’s grown in confidence—especially in the kitchen. His homemade Rocky Road was a hit with staff, who praised both the flavour and his developing culinary skills. His thoughtful nature has also shone through in the wider community, where he supported a staff member by helping to care for their dog, Buster. AA took Buster to a local park and used encouragement and treats to teach him new tricks.
As part of his Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, AA has pushed himself to develop advanced cycling techniques, including hops and slides, which he’s practised with determination. He also led a donation drive for The Well Project in Normanton, organising contributions from both school and residential teams.
In a recent incident near school, AA also showed extraordinary composure—offering calm reassurance and practical support when it mattered most.
The team at Hemsworth agree: AA is more than ready for the next steps of his journey. He leaves with a strong foundation of life skills, emotional maturity and a deep sense of responsibility to others.
He’ll be greatly missed, but he takes with him the admiration and best wishes of everyone who has worked with him.
