CCS Boleyn Park students enjoyed a World Wildlife Fund live lesson on Tuesday 25th March, discovering fascinating facts about UK wildlife and the importance of protecting nature. The session encouraged students to explore local biodiversity, from birds and badgers to beetles and bats, while learning how scientists track animal movements through tagging programmes in the wild.
Students joined in as a group by answering quiz questions and posting their responses online. They were excited to take part in interactive elements throughout the session, as the presenter shared real-life conservation stories and encouraged students to spot wildlife in their own surroundings.
The lesson also linked to the Mini London Marathon in Schools initiative, which invites young people to stay active and connect with nature. Students were keen to know if CCS Boleyn Park would be participating.
This year, Boleyn Park students are already signed up for their own version of the Mini Marathon – a run, walk, jog, or wheelchair event along the iconic Southend Pier. At 1.33 miles each way, it’s the longest pleasure pier in the world – offering a stunning setting for movement, mindfulness, and a celebration of nature.
