During mid-November, as a part of their cultural calendar, Athelstan Park students enjoyed a range of exciting activities focussed on space.
Staff and students from KS2 to KS4 visited We The Curious, in Bristol – and had a fabulous time with the science and arts centre’s interactive exhibits. During their visit, students were able to watch experiments being performed by the venue’s Live Science Team. They also got to see a stargazing show in a 3D planetarium.
Back at Athelstan, an inter-class competition was held, to see who could create the best astronaut outfit from a range of materials. Along with their practical skills, teamwork and communication skills were also tested by this activity. A lot of fun was had by the students, with some great work being produced.
Very detailed work, based on the students’ knowledge, made for a high standard of entries. Headteacher, Tyrone Perry-Harry, had a difficult task judging the competition – choosing 1st, 2nd and 3rd places from the entries.
