Eld Park students were recently given a great opportunity to learn about the water system, when Anglian Water visited their school in November.
After explaining the work of the water company to students, a practical challenge was set for them. Primary and secondary students had to use their practical skills to connect water pipes and ensure that water flowed through. In teams, they then looked at ways in which pipes could become blocked by experimenting with items in the water – to represent sewage and see which items would naturally disintegrate.
Students greatly enjoyed the experience – and gained understanding about how the water system needs to be looked after, if it is to keep functioning efficiently.
