Paramedics from the Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance team recently visited CCS Athelstan Park, to deliver some emergency awareness training to students.
The service was launched in 1990 and provides critical medical care across the Bath and Wiltshire areas.
During the team’s visit, students were taught how to make a 999 call, so that all the vital information could be accurately given to the emergency services. Once this was mastered, they then learnt how to put a patient into the recovery position – to prevent a casualty from chocking and to promote their recovery.
The final area covered was Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). This required the students to learn how to keep a non-breathing patient alive by performing chest compressions and breathing air into their lungs.
All the students worked very hard to master the important techniques and are now well placed to help in emergency situations. Many thanks to the Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance team. And well done Athelstan Park students!
