🌟 A New Chapter Begins at Redwood Park

When H walked through the gates of Redwood Park for the very first time, he didn’t know what to expect. It was a new environment, another first day, and an understandably uncertain moment. But just one week in, H is already thriving!

“I started my new school last week and didn’t know how to feel about it,” he wrote. “To start my first day, I was welcomed through the gate with warm smiles and I still thought it would get worse. It only gets better…”

It’s clear that Redwood Park has already made a big impression on H, who spoke honestly about the challenges of starting afresh, after previous experiences in education that didn’t feel positive or supportive. His early days here have been filled with kindness, encouragement, and real joy in learning again.

“Even when I have to do the daily mile,” he jokes. “I really feel like this could be a new chapter and I can get on really well here.”

H has also taken time to reflect on his first week through poetry, capturing what it’s meant to find a place where he feels more settled. His words offer a glimpse into his experience and echo the kind of supportive environment Compass Community Schools strives to provide—where every learner is given space to feel safe and encouraged.

A Third First Day, a Newfound Delight

by H, Redwood Park

As I step through these familiar gates,
A sense of calm, my heart creates,
The struggles of the past, they slowly fade,
Replaced with joy, a new path I’ve made.

Your welcoming grins, a beacon of light,
Guided me through the first week’s plight,
When energy was low, and doubts did creep,
Your support and kindness my heart did keep.

This third first day, I hope to be the last,
A final destination, where I can forever last,
No more new beginnings, no more unknown fears,
Just a sense of belonging, through all my tears.

To all my teachers, I offer my sincere thanks,
For making this transition a smooth and gentle bank,
Your continued support, a treasure to behold,
A treasure that helps me, my dreams unfold.

So here I’ll stay, and grow, and thrive,
In this new home, where love and learning survive,
Thank you for being, my guiding light,
On this journey of discovery, where everything’s just right.

Everyone at Redwood Park is proud of how well H has settled in—and inspired by the thoughtful way he’s chosen to express his journey so far. His words are a reminder that with the right environment and the right people, a new beginning can be filled with hope. Good luck, H!
